Bob the Wizard was NOT Zyle's mentor. They have never met. Agnor was Zyle's mentor and a bit of poseur. Agnor would NEVER have been allowed on The Warlocks Council. His magic wasn't good enough. Also Agnor is dead at this point in the story.
No connection between Pedro and Dr. Smog. Dr. Smog's long nose and eyepatch are due to deformities suffered in the chemical accident that turned him into Dr. Smog. He had quite a normal, handsome, (and bland) face before the accident.
I'm a little surprised you didn't quite get the Gilda And Meek character Pedro probably DOES have a connection with: The Piranha! It is strongly hinted that the mythical paradise of Piranhala is where the Piranha, or at least his species, are from. And the Piranha has amnesia and can't remember his past. You almost wish these two could cross time and compare notes.
Little known fact that I haven't described elsewhere: the one of the slippers who wanted Augatha to die at this point was Scuzzy. For whatever reasons, he wanted his and his brother's freedom. What's interesting to me about Augatha is she obviously knows this and loves Fuzzy and Scuzzy anyways. The fact that deep down one of them wants her dead doesn't change that fact.
