Well, well... I guess now it's clear why the NAACP says any Black person going to Florida has a date with Lady Death. Just check this out, and tell me if I'm wrong. Seriously, tell me if I'm wrong.
I don't think I need to explain the obvious signs here, as this and many other such incidents share a common theme: AR-15's, white supremacists, and the GOP flipping the country off when common sense change is asked for, called for, demanded for. If it ain't obvious by now, the cause for the allowing and apparent glorification of assault weapon proliferation should be clear: they are the instruments in a race war being quietly pushed forward by right-wing GOP jerkwads. Just ask Tucker Carlson, the right-wing "prophet" who developed an outlandish theory that continues to be a rallying cry to these bastards to this day.
Why else would some states still permit people wearing badges sporting the Confederate Battle Flag (which desecrated the halls of the U.S. Capitol on that "beautiful day", as Orange Führer puts it)? I could give a shit about the Second Amendment argument. That amendment applied to militias, last time I checked. I guess the Supreme Court must've been inspired by this "theory" to warp the amendment to facilitate this blatant call to arms for extremists hungry for minority blood. And what's worse, the GOP of today is basically saying collateral damage (i.e. schoolchildren) are a necessary sacrifice to win this bloodbath in the name of restoring white supremacy once and for all. I also find it incredibly distasteful that DeSantis would even "condemn" this -- he's basically the architect of this racist agenda in his own state.
I went to Florida in my youth to go to Walt Disney World. Now I have to grapple with the fact that as of right now, I will never be allowed to go there again. A San Franciscan journalist put it perfectly: The GOP has clearly established itself as what it's always been -- not the Party of "No", but the Party of Hatred.
